Ecobiopsychological model seeks to remove the veil from our projections and other defense mechanisms, making us participants at our consciousness, which creates an understanding of our soul.”

About me

My name is Michaela Lagorio, I was born and raised in Bratislava, Slovakia where I got my bachelor’s degree with honors at the Comenius University in Social and Work Psychology. Subsequently, I moved to Milan, Italy, where in 2017 I obtained a master’s degree with honors in Occupational and Marketing Psychology at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. I have always been fascinated by the corporate world and for many years I worked for various consulting companies in the field of selection, evaluation and development of human resources. In 2022, I’ve started working as a freelance psychologist, both as a HR consultant for companies, as well as clinical psychologist for individuals.

I am registered in the Chamber of Psychologists of Lombardy – section A – number 26761.

In October 2023, I’ve started a 4-year training in psychotherapy at the ANEB Ecobiopsychological Institute in Milan. At the same time, I am doing a specialization internship at the Psychiatric-therapeutic community Casa Cima in Milan.

What is Eco-bio-psychology?

Ecobiopsychology is a discipline that we consider to be the development of classical psychoanalysis and Jungian analytical psychology, and which combines the latest knowledge of complexity science, neuroscience, trauma theory and the attachment theory.

The ecobiopsychological approach is focused on the study of the context of the relationship between humans and nature, it combines – in a unified framework – the environment (eco), the body (bio) of a person and related sychological manifestations (psycho), the dynamics of the individual and collective unconsciousness, social and cultural context.

The eco-biopsychological model does not only focus on the client as an individual, but also focuses on his family, school, culture, relationships with others, intimate relationships, up to the body and organs themselves and related health problems. Studies revealed, for example, a strong relationship between depression and cardiovascular diseases, or between skin diseases (skin as the membrane, the physical boundary between our cells and the environment) and determining one’s own boundaries with the surrounding world (in the family, at work, self-care). We are all part of wider networks such as family, society and culture, which themselves are part of a larger natural ecosystem in which all parts are interconnected and interdependent. From this point of view, the client is taken as a part of the whole system, influenced by many factors, and therefore the emphasis in therapy is on a deeper investigation of the client’s life and functioning in relation to all these factors, not only of the individual inner experience.

My approach

The ecobiopsychological approach is holistic, unlike classical approaches that separate the mind from the body. How we interpret the world, our attitudes towards life and therefore our choices depend on a point of view that is subjective and never absolute or the only correct one. No point of view is superior to the other, just more or less useful depending on the situation. This approach allows the therapist to “read” the client’s psychological conflict (and its possible solutions) and relational discomfort also in its physical, symptomatic manifestations in relation to his specific illness and physical symptoms.

In ecobiopsychological therapy we apply knowledge from classic psychoanalytic models, from Jung’s analytical psychology, from the latest theories of neuroscience and from symbolism, in order to enable the therapist to better and deeper understand the relationships between the client’s body and mind, between the individual and society, culture and nature.

It is a methodology of symbolic interpretation of “material” that the client brings through verbal language and non-verbal – psychosomatic language, in which the psychological and existential meaning of the disease is hidden, and thanks to this somatic language, the therapist is able to outline the foundations of the so-called healing project and growth of the “client’s self”.

How to understand the client and his suffering through a therapeutic approach that requires a great openness of mind and knowledge?

There are three main points of an ecobiopsychological therapy:

1.) the initial anamnesis during the first three sessions: it is not only a summary of the client’s biographical data, but all the data from client’s life, including pre-natal life, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, diseases, etc., data about the “story” of a human existence, which takes place between victories and defeats, pains and joys, periods of crisis and transformations, in the middle of which there is a “hidden meaning”

2.) the therapist interprets the client’s “synchronistic” events, symbols and dreams, searches for the constant mind-body-environment relationship, how the psychological being is a “path” that is often incomprehensible to us but leads to growth and towards deeper transformation of our inner and the outer world.

3.) the therapist searches together with the client a deeper “meaning” of the mental or physical pain pointing out how in these manifestations of human suffering often, if not always, the need to rediscover a lost direction, to be able to reconnect with yourself and with others are hidden.

My offer

Psychological support

Psychological support is empathetic support with the goal of helping the person overcome certain critical moments in life. This kind of support is suitable even if you do not have any specific problems, but simply want to increase your psychological well-being and start a new path of personal growth.

The goal of counseling is to discover and strengthen inner abilities that a person often doesn’t know about, to increase thw sense of self-confidence, and to become independent in managing possible future crises and stressful situations and thereby improve the global mental health and well being.

Career counseling

Career counseling has a goal to develop an individual’s career in order to be able to successfully face important decisions and changes in our work life.

It is an individual counseling process that will allow you to get to know yourself better, evaluate your professional situation, discover your strengths and weaknesses, and then carefully plan a change of job, profession, or other career moves.

It is an opportunity to review previous work and life experiences, focus on your current knowledge and skills and, based on this, identify new professional goals and paths and a concrete action plan for what you really desire to achieve.

Online sessions

Today, online therapy is a very effective tool if personal therapy is not possible, while guaranteeing high-quality therapeutic work that goes in-depth of a person’s psychological suffering. Ecobiopsychological approach allows us to understand a person as a whole, the mind, the body and the wider environment in which we live. With the help of online therapy, it is possible to work effectively with the client’s psychosomatic language and enter into the depth of the processes that cause mental illness and discomfort.

What can we work on together?

Anxiety, stress, burnout, mobbing

Excessive and long-lasting stress at work, anxiety from performance, perfectionism, bullying at the workplace, exhaustion of physical and mental energy and strong demotivation are aspects that manifest themselves not only on a psychological but also on a physical level and affect the quality of life and work efficiency.

Psychosomatic problems

Unprocessed emotional experience settles in the body and manifests itself through illness, such as the examples below:

  • Migraine, headaches
  • digestion problems (reflux, frequent feeling of vomiting, poor digestion, frequent constipation/diarrhea)
  • Muscle/joint pain
  • Sexual problems such as premature or late ejaculation, genitopelvic pain and penetration disorder in women
  • Skin diseases such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, alopecia
  • Palpitations, hypertension, thyroid disorder

Relationship issues

Interpersonal problems, such as difficulty maintaining stable and satisfying relationships, getting what you want from others, maintaining respect from the others and self-esteem, or loneliness and reluctance to socialize.

Decisions about career path/school

Difficulty making decisions about school/work path in order to face a future change can be frightening and therefore paralyzing for a person. Counseling will allow you to direct your choice to areas that are in line with your personality.

Personal growth

It is a path of individual, psychological, spiritual and emotional growth that can involve different areas of life. The path of personal growth is based on work with your inner Self with the goal of knowing the true Self, to free yourself from all pressures and false expectations, whether individual or societal, and to be able to pursue your goals and desires according to who you really are. It is a path of discovering your soul, your essence and thus discovering your own meaning of life.
